Jesus Through the Holy Spirit is Our Teacher
John 14:26: The Holy Spirit teaches us all and bring the teachings of Christ to remembrance.
John 15:26, John 16:14: The Holy Spirit only testifies of Jesus and speaks what He receives from Jesus.
John 16:12-15: Jesus has more to say and He speaks through the Holy Spirit.
1 John 2:26-27: The anointing (Holy Spirit) teaches us all things. We do not need man to teach us.
Titus 2:11-14: The Spirit of Grace that brings salvation teaches us to say "no" to sin and live Holy now in this life.
Matthew 23:8: We only have one teacher, Christ, we all are brothers.
Luke 6:40: Those who are fully trained/perfected are like their Master Jesus who has trained them.
The Bible makes it very clear that Jesus is our teacher through the Holy Spirit. We do not need man to teach us, though Jesus uses man sometimes, we only truly need Him. He is who we depend on. The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus and Jesus alone. Many are taught by people who testify of religious denomination doctrines and traditions and their own theology and bible teachings. Jesus teaches us to follow and obey Him. To be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect and to walk just as He walks. He teaches us how to stop sinning and how to overcome the tempter. This can only be done by Jesus. We must believe and have faith in this truth: that Jesus alone can and will teach us and perfect us. We know we are taught by Jesus when we see the fruit, we see that we overcome sin and walk in perfection as He has trained us and shaped us. Once we believe this truth, then it is just a matter of where to start.
The Laws of the New Covenant are the Words/Teachings of Jesus
2 Corinthians 3: The Spirit writes the Laws of the New Covenant in our hearts. The LORD is that Spirit.
Hebrews 8:7-11: No one will teach anyone to know the LORD they will know Him; For God writes His Laws in their hearts.
1 John 2:3-6: We know we know the LORD if we obey His commandments.
John 17:3: Eternal life is knowing Jesus and the Father.
John 12:49-50: The Fathers Commandments which Jesus speaks through the Holy Spirit is Eternal Life.
Many do not believe we are under the law. This is half true, we are not under the Old Law, however we are under the New Law, the Law of Christ. The New Law is the Words and Teachings of Jesus Christ. The things He has said in red print in the Bible, the Words Jesus speaks to us and teaches now, the convictions and instructions we receive from the Spirit of Grace now; these are the Laws and these laws are the laws of liberty. They give us freedom from sin and if we continue in them we stay delivered. Eternal deliverance and salvation belongs to those who obey Jesus Christ the Word of God (Hebrews 5:9). Only Jesus can teach you and write inside of you His Laws for you, that instruct you to say "no" to sin and live holy and up right now in this life. With the general commandments found in the scriptures, come the commandments of the Spirit which is different for each individual. How one may overcome lying or lust may be a different instruction than another who battles with the same thing. We must be trained by Jesus and follow Him. When we follow Him, we are changed by Him.
Too many are trying to obey the Words written in the Bible by their own strength, intellect, understanding and reasoning. They fail. The reason why is because we cannot do anything ourselves (John 15:4-5). Jesus through His Grace must show us and teach us how to live, how to resist the enemy and overcome. Too many are seeking human teachers and words of encouragement but continue to sin, why? Because they are not going to Jesus and receiving from His Grace that writes His laws in us, that teaches us and sets us free. Many do not even know this is how salvation is mapped: strict training and obedience to Jesus; many have been deceived by religious plans of salvation.
Gifted Human Teachers Teach to be Taught by Jesus
Matthew 28:20: We are to teach all things Jesus taught us to obey.
Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23: This is what Jesus commanded us if we wish to come after Him.
1 Corinthians 11:1, Galatians 1:12-24: Paul said to follow him as he follows Christ; he was taught by Jesus for 3 years and obeyed the voice of Jesus. To follow him is to learn to follow Jesus.
Ephesians 4:8-16: The gifts were given to build us up to a point where we no longer need them, until maturity. This includes human gifted teachers.
2 Peter 2:1, Matthew 7:15-20: Just as there are false prophets there are false teachers, Jesus warned to test fruit, what people do. Those who continue to sin, have not been trained by Jesus.
Matthew 7:13-14: The way is narrow and few find it, this means there are few who walk in and teach the pure truth.
If a teacher, pastor, apostle, prophet or any other gift is gifted and truly obeying Jesus, they are placed in your life for a season to get you to a place where you depend on Jesus and not them. As Paul said, these gifts were given till we all come into perfection, the full measure of Christ… Each gift should be utilized into drawing you closer to Jesus to be fed and trained by Him, so you may be perfected by Him. The same Holy Spirit who only testifies of Jesus is the one who dispenses the spiritual gifts for the same purpose, to lead people to complete obedience and perfection in Jesus. Today many have received gifts but due to not continuing in Jesus, due to sin and corruption, they are leading many astray. People look for so many teachers and preachers but do not seek after Jesus and obey His instructions. When He speaks to them they doubt because of how much false doctrines they already have and their sins blind them further.
When Jesus uses a human being, He does not use them to lead you to that human being or others, nor their ministry, their doctrines, teachings, fellowship or denomination. Jesus uses human beings (as well as everything else) to lead us into Himself, He uses them to get our attention and to help guide us into His arms, so that we may all receive directly from Him. The LORD said through the prophet Jeremiah: cursed is the man who depends on man and makes flesh his strength… but blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD... (Jeremiah 17:5-10). Though Jesus uses people, we are not supposed to be dependant and trained/taught by people; this may happen in the beginning stages, but it cannot stay this way and not for long. We become like our teachers, so if your teacher does not lead you to Jesus to be trained by Him, how can we become like Jesus? Especially if we are being trained by a teacher who still sins; which according to the Bible means they do not know Jesus nor have seen Him, let alone are trained by Him. This is why most Christians never stop sinning and never start following Jesus His way, they become like the religious hypocrites who are training them, who follow Jesus their own way.True teachers anointed and gifted by Jesus, first learn from Him, then lead others to do the same.
How to Start Learning From Jesus
Hebrews 5:13-6:2: The basics start with learning whose voice is whose, starting with repentance from sin and faith in God.
Titus 2:11-12: The Grace of God teaches us how to stop sinning. That's the first class.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18: Light has no fellowship with darkness, repent and break ones fellowship with darkness. Obey what you know God has said.
It all starts with repentance from sin and having faith in the Word of God. The first class with Jesus after we come to Him is not bible stories nor self help emotional life encouragement. It is holiness and righteousness 101, how to overcome the enemy, the world and sin so that we may live. Then He teaches us everything else. Turn away from the dead works of sin and start to do the things God tells you, this is what it means to have faith in God. If you want to get started on learning from Jesus go to Jesus in repentance, seek Him for deliverance, and cry out to Him with a serious, sincere, broken heart, desiring truth and deliverance. Jesus Himself will come through for you. Put your entire energy and focus on receiving deliverance and Grace to continue in overcoming, know you will receive because He promised. This is where you MUST start!! Obey the things you already know. If you are already convicted of sin, if you already know things He wants you to repent of and turn away from, then obey what you know: Delete what you need to delete, cut off what you need to cut off, break up from what/who you need to break up from, forgive who you need to forgive, reconcile with whom you need to reconcile. The things you know, do them. If you do not know or you do not know how or simply need wisdom, then ASK. This is where Grace comes in. The Spirit of Grace will give you truth that shatters lies you believe, He will give you revelation that sets you free, and when you obey, you will see clear results. Be warned however, once you start to obey, one of the results is new and craftier temptations that come shortly after, temptations designed to have you drop the new laws you received and you are obeying, to leave you open to be enslaved again. Hold on to the truths Jesus gives you. Once you start you will start experiencing real temptations. If you stumble get back up, go back to Jesus receive more instruction from Grace, learn from the mistake and move forward in obedience. Do not stay down, get up.
The reason why we MUST start with repentance is because when we sin, we are in fellowship with the enemy, we have fellowship with darkness. This does not mean God will not speak to you at all, He still speaks. The problem is because we have fellowship with the demons who tempt us and now are masters over us in areas of our lives, they have influence over us and also make it very difficult to receive from God clearly. When we sin and demons come in, we then have doubts, discouragements, confusion, double-mindedness, anxiety, fear and many other mental attacks that build strongholds. All these things interfere with our relationship and communication with Jesus. But if we obey the simple things Jesus says to us even in the midst of that chaos, the enemy loses much of his power and much of his influence. Sometimes we really have to press and if we endure and do not give up we receive that breakthrough. We must deal with sin first because dealing with sin, breaks off our fellowship with the enemy who is consistently trying to break up our relationship with God. Do not focus on anything else, deal with sin first. Come to life through the Word of God then deal with other things.
Many try to learn to follow the voice of Jesus alone, leaving religion behind, but do not start with repentance and end up worse than they started. The enemy comes as a false angel of light or a false Christ and lies to them, they then think they are following Jesus though they are still sinning like the religious way they left before. They then believe perverse doctrines taught to them by these masquerading spirits and they then also preach and teach these lies. This happens because they did not cut of ties with the enemy through repenting from sin first and continuing in Jesus. Start with repentance, do not just up and leave a church or religion (unless its clear you need to leave) or wherever you are right now and say you are following Jesus (cause you may not be). No, first seek Jesus through repentance, and let Him lead you from there, follow Him. First receive and know you have receive Jesus, His Words and His deliverance, then continue to follow Him where and as He leads you, as He opens truth. Now if the assembly or place you are at is a stumble block if it is a hindrance in hearing Jesus, overcoming sin (some assemblies place people in the line of temptations) or is making things confusing by their preaching or doctrines, its perfectly fine to take some time in solitude; or leave if it's clear that they are far from God. But do not make speedy decisions right of the get go, except that you are turning from sin, obeying the Word of God and cutting off all stumble blocks that get in the way. Once you are following Jesus He will lead you out at the right time. Do what Jesus says.
Lastly once you begin to follow Jesus, do not fall victim of pride. There is a type of pride that attacks once you start to hear the voice of the LORD and come to know Him. This pride that attacks sons of God is a type that uses fear (and past wounds) to cause one to reject people completely without wisdom. Because we now know we hear from Jesus and have so many lies exposed to us that people have taught us, it is easy to fall into a fear of being deceived and therefore cut off everyone. We are not to have any fear at all, no fear of being wrong, nor any fear of being deceived. We should simply desire the truth and rejoice in it when we are corrected. When it comes to people, we are not to depend on people and make them our strength, however Jesus does still sometimes use people with us, especially those who are just learning to hear His voice. Jesus can uses gifted teachers to confirm, or guide, or bump babes back on track with certain things. Remember gifted teachers lead you to Jesus. If we are corrected by any human being even if they are false or misunderstood us, we are to take it back to Jesus, humble ourselves before Him first. He may confirm we are in the clear, He may show us where we may have missed something and that the person may have been correct, or He may talk to us about a completely different issue all together. Ultimately He will also tell us how to deal with the people who have spoken to us and what to do with the information received. This is not about trusting in what you know, nor past instructions, nor people, but learning to trust in Jesus taking everything to Him and letting Him guide us step by step, day by day. Many trust in past knowledge, wisdom and instruction, reject people (who may be messengers of Jesus) without humbling themselves to Jesus and miss out on correction or even new additions (revelations) to things Jesus has already showed them. Trust in Jesus, not your understanding in what He has told you, pride comes in when we trusting in anything but Jesus, again this includes even our understanding of things He has said. There is nothing to lose nor nothing wrong with going back to Him, even if we know or think we know.
